Dragoon Trail Chapter Gate Procedures

NOTE, AS OF 1-DEC-2011, WE ARE IN PROCESS OF TUNING THE EXIT GROUND LOOP. PLEASE USE THE KEYPAD TO EXIT IF THE GATE SHOULD FAIL TO OPEN WHEN EXITING.

1. Generally, when entering, enter the combination on the electronic keypad, and once the gate opens fully, drive through.
2. Generally, when exiting, approach the gate, but stay clear of the gate path until the gate is open fully, then drive through.
3. When entering or exiting, please, only one car through the gate per cycle.
4. Right of way should be conveyed to those entering. If you're exiting, and there is someone entering, please hold for them to enter (hold at the propane tank). That minimizes the occurrence of someone obtaining access without knowing the combination just after someone leaves.

Detailed procedures and backup methods are listed below, as well as on signs at the gate.

GATE ENTRY PROCEDURE

1. Enter combination into the keypad
2. Gate will start to open
3. Reenter vehicle
4. When gate is fully open, drive through

You'll have about a minute before the gate closes. Per observation, that is enough time for most to be parking inside the facility prior to the gate closing.

Always be aware of the gate automatically opening and closing.

GATE ENTRY BACKUP PROCEDURE

If the gate should fail to open after entering the proper code on the keypad, re-enter the code. If it should still fail to open,

1. 'Automatic gate' is on the left (east) portion of the gate
2. 'Manual gate' is on the right (west) portion of the gate
3. 'Manual gate' is secured with a combination padlock. Enter the combination into the padlock. Push down on the shank, and then lift the shank. Padlock will open.
4. Open 'Manual gate'. Secure 'Manual gate' in the open position with strap so the wind does not blow it closed.
5. Reenter your vehicle and exit the facility.
6. Re-secure the 'Manual gate' by closing the gate and reattaching the padlock.

GATE EXIT PROCEDURE

1. Approach the gate, but do not allow your vehicle to enter the path of the gate.
2. Gate will start to open
3. When gate is fully open, drive through

You'll have about a minute before the gate closes. Per observation, that is enough time for most to be nearing the stop sign at 46TH ST.

Always be aware of the gate automatically opening and closing.

GATE EXIT PROCEDURE PRIMARY BACKUP PROCEDURE

If the gate should fail to open as you approach,

1. Verify your vehicle is not in the path of the gate
2. On the entry keypad, enter the combination
3. Gate will start to open
4. Reenter vehicle
5. When gate is fully open, drive through

GATE EXIT PROCEDURE SECONDARY BACKUP PROCEDURE

If the gate should fail to open after following the 'Gate Exit Primary Backup Procedure',

1. 'Automatic gate' is on the right (east) portion of the gate
2. 'Manual gate' is on the left (west) portion of the gate
3. 'Manual gate' is secured with a combination padlock. Enter the combination into the padlock. Push down on the shank, and then lift the shank. Padlock will open.
4. Open 'Manual gate' and secure 'Manual gate' in the open position with strap so the wind does not blow it closed.
5. Reenter your vehicle and exit the facility.
6. Re-secure the 'Manual gate' closing the gate and reattaching the padlock.
