Just a reminder we will have our August 3 Gun nation match on Saturday 8-29.
This is a 3 gun nation club series match and will use the current rule set available.
You don't need to be a 3 Gun nation member to shoot it however we will have 1 or 2 classifiers at this match.

A couple format changes worth noting for this match.

• Rifle Steel - We will be shooting some rifle steel (knockdown 6x6 plates)
• Slugs - We will have some slug designated targets at this match

Make sure you know your zeroes/offsets on your rifles, max distance will be 50 yards.

Also, since we are shooting rifle steel we will be checking rifle ammo. No ammo containing steel will be allowed.
CHECK YOUR AMMO with a strong magnet ahead of time, if it is attracted in any way it will not be allowed.

This past weekend was a busy one at the Ankeny Ikes. Things got started on Thursday and continued through Sunday with the FIRST EVER Iowa IDPA state championship (http://www.idpa.com/ ). This event brought 95 competitors from all over the nation to compete in 10 different and challenging defensive pistol scenarios. On Saturday, we also hosted the 2015 Iowa Summer Games Trap Shooting Finals (http://www.iowagames.org/ ). There were over 100 competitors competing to be the best trap shooter in Iowa.

What does it mean to be an Izaak Walton League? It means working to advance conservation, engage people in outdoor recreation, and safeguard natural resources...

Stages will be posted prior to the match.
We will be doing 1 shotgun only stage, 2 field courses and 1 or 2 classifiers.

The election will be held during the July board meeting-Wednesday, July 8, 2015-at the Ikes chapter house. The voting period will start at 5 pm and end at 8 pm.

Candidate for President
Hello fellow Ikes, my name is Scott Arnburg and I am running for Chapter President. I have been a member of the Dragoon Trail Chapter IWLA since 2008. During that time, I have served on the Board of Directors in many different roles. Most recently, I have been serving as the Shooting Sports Coordinator. In this role, I have established successful rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting sports programs.

As President, I plan to work hard to maintain and grow our membership, partner with other organizations...

On Saturday June 20th the Dragoon Trail Chapter will host the Iowa Games Trapshooting events for our area of the state. The traps open for practice at 9:30am with the competition getting under way at 10:30am. The 50 target events will consist of 16 yard targets, handicap (20 or ATA), and doubles. Competitors may compete in one, two or all three events for $11 target fees per event and a $20 registration fee that includes an Iowa Games Athlete shirt (while supplies last). Shooters compete against others in their age/gender division with 6th-8th Grade and 9th-12th Grade shooters also able to compete as a team. Iowa Games Medals are awarded for the top three places in each division and those competitors are invited back to the Dragoon Trail Chapter on Saturday July 18th for the Iowa Games Trapshooting Finals. They will compete against the winners from the other Iowa Games Trapshoots across Iowa.
